Remote camera stations were set up in Lassen Volcanic National Park from August to October 2017 and June to September 2018 to document occurrence of mesocarnivores and other wildlife. 126 cameras were set up at 32 primary sampling units (clusters of two to four cameras) throughout the park. Random locations for primary sampling units were chosen using a 3-km sampling grid over the park area. The dataset contains all species observed within the study time-frame, the date and time of observation and the number of individuals detected as well as identification for individual locations, cameras and images. Of the three target species of conservation concern (Pacific fisher (Pekania pennanti), Pacific marten (Martes...

Comma-separated values (.csv) file containing data related to mercury concentrations in dragonfly samples from U.S. National Parks collected as part of the Dragonfly Mercury Project (DMP). This data release supersedes Eagles-Smith, C.A., Nelson, S.J., Flanagan-Pritz, C.M., Willacker Jr., J.J., and Klemmer, A.J., 2018, Total mercury concentrations in dragonfly larvae from U.S. national parks (ver. 8.0, December 2022): U.S. Geological Survey data release, https://doi.org/10.5066/P9TK6NPT. Please contact fresc_outreach@usgs.gov for access.
The dataset includes specifics on liver tissue and blood plasma anticoagulant rodenticide concentrations measured using high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. This data release supersedes Herring, G., and Eagles-Smith, C.A., 2022, Anticoagulant rodenticide concentrations in blood and tissue of California condors and turkey vultures: U.S. Geological Survey data release, https://doi.org/10.5066/P9NHPLHX. Comma Separated Value (CSV) file containing data related to total and methyl mercury concentrations in biota from the Willamette Basin in Oregon; specifically, Cottage Grove Reservoir, waters upstream of the reservoir, and additional reservoirs within the Willamette Basin.
We compiled electrofishing and habitat data sampled from 1990 to 2019 in the Harney Basin by the US Geological Survey (USGS), Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) and the High Desert Partnership (HDP) to describe native and non-native fish distributions and their habitat associations. USGS collected eDNA data in 2019 to refine the known distributions of common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Site transect length, channel width, depth, and gradient were recorded concurrently with fish sampling. Site elevation was derived from statewide digital elevation models (DEM). We used Tableau, a visualization platform, to display fish distributions in the Harney Basin. This data release supersedes Laramie, M.B., Mejia, F.H.,...

Prior to the initiation of translocation efforts in 2017, Pacific lamprey (Entosphenus tridentatus) were last documented in the Okanogan river subbasin in 2010. It appears as if lamprey were extirpated in the Okanogan subbasin some time shortly after that. However, until 2017, monitoring and management actions for lamprey were minimal in the Okanogan subbasin. This lack of monitoring has resulted in a large gap in understanding of the recent historical status of Pacific lamprey distribution throughout the Okanogan subbasin. Recent (beginning in 2017) translocation efforts have helped to rebound or reestablish lamprey in the Okanogan subbasin. Analysis of archived eDNA samples from the Okanogan river and its tributaries...

This dataset contains information from surveys conducted 2016-2022 by USGS as part of an ongoing Oregon spotted frog (Rana pretiosa) monitoring effort in Oregon. USGS research activities 2016-2022 were divided into seven study design categories: breeding (egg mass counts), mid-level (visual encounter surveys for occupancy monitoring), apex (mark-recapture), telemetry, trapping, water quality (skin microbiome swabbing), and genetics (egg mass embryo or toe-clip tissue samples). Data consist of Oregon spotted frog observations aggregated by date, location, life stage, sex, and project. These data were compiled from multiple studies employing different survey methods, thus we caution users that counts are not directly...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has developed the PRObability of Streamflow PERmanence (PROSPER) model, a GIS raster-based empirical model that provides streamflow permanence probabilities (probabilistic predictions) of a stream channel having year-round flow for any unregulated and minimally-impaired stream channel in the Pacific Northwest region, U.S. The model provides annual predictions for 2004-2016 at a 30-m spatial resolution based on monthly or annually updated values of climatic conditions and static physiographic variables associated with the upstream basin (Raw streamflow permanence probability rasters). Predictions correspond to pixels on the channel network consistent with the medium resolution National...
