Using publicly available data for Erie and Niagara counties, New York, a series of geospatial overlays were created at 1:24,000 scale to examine the bedrock geology, groundwater table, soils, and surficial geology. Bedrock and surficial geology were refined using extant bedrock maps, well and borehole data from water- and gas-wells, soil data, and lidar data. Groundwater data were collected from New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and U.S. Geological Survey water-well databases to estimate the groundwater table. Soil data were used to examine soil thickness over bedrock and infiltration. An inventory of closed depressions was created using reconditioned lidar-derived bare-earth digital elevation...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Development Center and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, developed a predictive, mechanistic, three-dimensional hydrodynamic model for the St. Louis River Estuary (SLRE), Minnesota. This model was developed with Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code (EFDC), a grid-based, surface-water modeling package for simulating three-dimensional circulation, mass transport, sediments, and biogeochemical processes. The new model predicts discharge, water-surface elevations, flow velocity, and water temperature. The model was calibrated using data collected from April 2016 through November 2016 and validated with...

This child item contains ground penetrating radar (GPR) data collected over a small alpine wetland between Mogul Mine and Cement Creek located near Silverton, Colorado. Mine-impacted water is transported to Cement Creek via surface channels and groundwater through this wetland. The GPR method transmits radar pulses into the ground and measures the returned amplitude from these pulses over time. Variations in subsurface electromagnetic (EM) properties (dielectric permittivity, electrical conductivity, and magnetic susceptibility) affect the timing and amplitude of returned radar energy. For example, variation in water or mineral content are physical properties that often influence the EM properties that are observed...

This child page contains eight csv files, site_flow, which contain daily streamflow values for each site. Each file includes a station identifier, date of observation, measured value of streamflow and qualifier code for the measured value. The format of the csv file (date format and column headings) is designed to meet the specific requirements of file format for R-QWTREND. If csv files are opened directly in excel, the format of the data can change. To ensure the data are in the proper format for R-QWTREND, files should be opened in a text editor. The "site" in site_flow can be cross-referenced to the main report by downloading the zipped folder HRtrend folder from child page, "Scripts to run R-QWTREND models and...

The datasets provided here are the input data used to run the Seasonal Kendall Trend (SKT) tests and Weighted Regressions on Time, Discharge, and Season (WRTDS) models. SKT tests use "annualSamplingFreqs_allSites.csv" and "wqData_screenedSitesAll.csv" which includes, for all site-parameter combinations, information on annual sampling frequencies and the screened water-quality data, respectively. The WRTDS models use "DRB.wqdata.20200521.csv", "DRB.flow.20200610.zip", and "DRB.info.20200521.csv" for calibration which includes, for all site-parameter combinations, the water-quality data, streamflow data (as separate .csv files for each site), model specifications and site information, respectively. The multisource...

This child item dataset contains a shapefile of labels for hydrogeologic sections illustrated in Heisig, 2023 (figure 3, plate 1). The "Sec_ID" attribute lists letter-number designations for the ends of each section. Hydrogeologic section labels are in the format x - x'. By convention, the x is on the west side and the x' is on the east side of generally horizontal sections. In generally vertical sections, the x is the westernmost of the section ends and the x' is the eastermost end of the section line.
