The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Soil Sample Archive is a database of information describing soil and sediment samples collected in support of USGS science. Samples in the archive have been registered with International Generic Sample Numbers, relabeled with bar-coded sample labels, and repacked in containers for long-term preservation. Details of sample collection location, collection date, associated datasets, mass of remaining sample, storage locations, and other relevant information are tabulated here so that interested parties may identify associated datasets and search, sort, and gain access to archived samples.
The U.S. Geological Survey’s Wetland and Aquatic Research Center (WARC), formed in 2015, pulls together experts in biology and ecology from around the Southeastern United States and Caribbean. With primary locations in Lafayette, Louisiana, and Gainesville, Florida, WARC scientists pursue relevant and objective research and new approaches and technologies, to build scientific knowledge and provide understanding and tools for wise management and conservation of wetlands and aquatic ecosystems and their associated plant and animal communities throughout the nation and the world, with an emphasis on the Southeast United States, the Caribbean, and the Gulf of Mexico. Beyond the primary centers, research facilities...
The USA National Phenology Network (USA-NPN) serves science and society by promoting broad understanding of plant and animal phenology and its relationship with environmental change. The Network is a consortium of individuals and organizations that collect, share, and use phenology data, models, and related information. USGS is the managing agency for the USA-NPN. This collection includes a series of of phenology datasets, with ground-based observations and gridded pheno-climatic model output.
