This data collection consists of a synthetic stream network and associated catchments developed as the foundation for a Spatially Referenced Regressions on Watershed Attributes (SPARROW) dissolved-solids source and transport model for the Upper Colorado River Basin (UCRB). The SPARROW model requires a hydrologically connected representation of a stream network through which loads are transported from an upstream reach to the next reach downstream (Schwarz and others, 2006; Moore and others, 2004). Each stream reach or segment within this synthetic stream network has an associated local drainage area or catchment used to calculate catchment characteristics that may have an effect on loads being modeled. The synthetic...

These contours represent water level change in the shallow aquifer in Lahontan Valley from 1992 - 2012 based on depth-to-groundwater measurements made in 73 wells in 1992 and 2012, with limited measurements made in 2013. Measurements collected in 2013 were used to develop the contours only in limited cases where the measurement well was being pumped or was inaccessible in 2012. Water-level change in the shallow aquifer was determined by differencing measurements made in 1992 with current measurements. The difference values were used to interpolate a change surface and contours were developed from that surface.

These contours represent water levels based on depth-to-groundwater measurements made at 98 wells in July of 2012 in the Lahontan Valley near Fallon, NV. Water level measurements collected before or after July of 2012 were included only in cases where the well was being pumped or was inaccessible in July 2012. The contours were developed to compare with 1992 water level altitude contoured by Seiler and Allander (1993). This USGS data release represents tabular data for a process to estimate net infiltration using a site-scale water-budget approach, Rainier Mesa, Nevada National Security Site, 2002-05. This dataset consists of the following: (1) Measured and corrected precipitation data from A12 weather station, Rainier Mesa, Nevada National Security Site, July 1, 2002 to June 30, 2005. (2) Inventory of net radiation, latent-heat flux, and sensible-heat flux gap-filled periods, pinyon-juniper evapotranspiration (ET) station, Rainier Mesa, Nevada National Security Site, January, 2002 to August, 2005. (3) Inventory of net radiation, latent-heat flux, and sensible-heat flux gap-filled periods, scrub-brush ET station, Rainier Mesa,...

This generalized geology dataset was developed as input to a total dissolved solids Spatially Referenced Regressions on Watershed Attributes (SPARROW) model for the Upper Colorado River Basin (UCRB; Kenney and others, 2009) and for a more recent update to that model. The largest source of naturally generated dissolved solids in streams of the UCRB is the rocks underlying stream basins, particularly rocks high in dissolvable minerals. For the purposes of modeling, the scale of the geologic dataset optimally should be similar to the scale of the stream-catchment network used in the model but simplified to reduce the number of geologic units represented in the data. This dataset was developed to meet both scale and...

These data represent the extent and spatial distribution of irrigated acreage delineated from maximum Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) derived from Landsat scenes in the Walker River Basin, California and Nevada, at five-year intervals from 1975-2010. The field boundaries in this data set are digitized from one-year composite maximum NDVI data derived from atmospherically corrected Landsat 2 Multispectral Scanner (MSS), Landsat 5 MSS, and Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) scenes. NDVI was calculated from the corrected reflectance data for each selected scene during the growing season (May through early October) and a single, composite image of maximum NDVI values was derived for each 5-year interval. Selecting...

This USGS data release represents tabular data and water-level modeling files for the 16 Pahute Mesa multiple-well aquifer tests conducted from 2009–2014. The data release was produced in compliance with the new 'open data' requirements as a way to make the scientific products associated with USGS research efforts and publications available to the public. The dataset consists of 5 separate items: 1. Pumping time-series data (Tabular dataset) 2. Simplified pumping time-series data (Tabular dataset) 3. Drawdown time-series data (Tabular dataset) 4. Water-level models (Macro-enabled Excel spreadsheets) 5. SeriesSEE (Excel Add-In)
