This data release documents proposed updates to geologic inputs (faults) for the upcoming 2023 National Seismic Hazard Model (NSHM). This version (1.0) conveys differences between 2014 NSHM fault sources and those recently released in the earthquake geology inputs for the U.S. National Seismic Hazard Model (NSHM) 2023, version 1.0 data release by Hatem et al. (2021). A notable difference between the 2014 and 2023 datasets is that slip rates are provided at points for 2023 instead of generalized along the entire fault section length as in 2014; consequently, slip rates are not provided for fault sections in the draft 2023 dataset. Geospatial data (shapefile, kml and geojson) are provided in this data release with...

This data set consists of digital data describing wetlands and uplands habitats for the Mississippi Coastal Improvements Program (MsCIP) area, consisting of Cat, Ship, Horn and Petit Bois Islands for the year 2020. Wetlands were classified using the Cowardin, et al., wetlands classification scheme to the level of freshwater and tidal, salinity modifiers. Uplands were classified using a customized classification scheme which can be cross-referenced to Anderson, et. al. For this dataset, upland dunes were delineated as areas at or above 1.524 meters (5 feet) as determined in the Lidar data that was referenced without modification for this classification. With this elevation criteria some delineated upland dune features...

![]() High-resolution single-channel Chirp and minisparker seismic-reflection data were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey in September and October 2006, offshore Bolinas to San Francisco, California. Data were collected aboard the R/V Lakota, during field activity L-1-06-SF. Chirp data were collected using an EdgeTech 512 chirp subbottom system and were recorded with a Triton SB-Logger. Minisparker data were collected using a SIG 2-mille minisparker sound source combined with a single-channel streamer, and both were recorded with a Triton SB-Logger.

The U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Grand River Dam Authority completed a high-resolution multibeam bathymetric survey to compute a new capacity and surface-area table. The capacity and surface-area tables describe the relation between the elevation of the water surface and the volume of water that can be impounded at each given water-surface elevation. The capacity and surface area of Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees were computed from a Triangular Irregular Network (TIN) surface created in Global Mapper Version 21.0.1. The TIN surface was created from three datasets: (1) a multibeam bathymetric survey of Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees in 2019 (Hunter and others 2020), (2) a 2017 USGS bathymetric survey...

Ground-based discrete snowpack measurements were collected during winter field campaigns starting in 2020. These data were collected as part of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Next Generation Water Observing System (NGWOS) Upper Colorado River Basin project focusing on the relation between snow dynamics and water resources. This data release consists of three child items. Each child item contains snow depth, snow density, snow temperature, or snow water equivalent values measured discretely in the field. The data are provided in comma separated value (CSV) files.

These data are a compilation of fishway structures collected by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission state representatives at the request of the U.S. Geological Survey. The variables included within this dataset range from locality information and structure metadata (eg. latitude/longitude and year of construction) to metrics specifically about the fishway structure (eg. fishway width). The dataset ranges in dates of construction from 1882 to 2020 and includes fishways from all states on the eastern coast of the United States. Requests were sent to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission state representatives to collect fishway data from the areas within their responsibility. The state representatives...

Estimates of various low-flow statistics were computed at 71 ungaged stream locations throughout New Jersey during the 2017 water year using methods in the published reports, Streamflow Characteristics and Trends in New Jersey, Water Years 1897-2003 (U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report 2005-5105) and Implementation of MOVE.1, Censored MOVE.1, and Piecewise MOVE.1 Low-Flow Regressions With Applications at Partial-Record Streamgages in New Jersey (U.S. Geological Survey Open File Report 2018-1089). The estimates are computed as needed for use in water resources permitting, assessment, and management by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The data release includes the stream name,...

Observations and subtle shifts of vegetation communities in western Lake Erie have USGS researchers concerned about the potential for Grass Carp to alter these vegetation communities. Broad-scale surveys of vegetation using remote sensing and GIS mapping, coupled with on-the-ground samples in key locations will permit assessment of the effect Grass Carp may have already had on aquatic vegetation communities and establish baseline conditions for assessing future effects. Existing aerial imagery was used with object-based image analysis to detect and map aquatic vegetation in the western basin of Lake Erie.

This dataset contains drainage basin boundaries for 253 U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) streamgages in Alaska that had at least 5 years of daily streamflow through September 30, 2017, three of which were delineated for alternate basin conditions. This compilation includes selected boundaries produced in 2014 (https://doi.org/10.5066/P143KNEJ). Additional basin boundaries were delineated from the streamgage location to the nearest USGS Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) HUC boundary and along HUC boundaries from that intersection to the basin headwaters. Streamgages selected for drainage basin delineation included streamgages in Alaska that met selection criteria for a statewide study of seasonal flow regimes (Curran...

A model of the lower seismogenic depth distribution of earthquakes in the western United States was developed to support models for seismic hazard assessment that will be included in the 2023 USGS National Seismic Hazard Model. This data release presents a recalibration using the hypocentral depths of events M>1 from the Advanced National Seismic System Comprehensive Earthquake Catalog from 1980 to 2021. For higher precision and better resolution in the model, the data were supplemented with seismicity from southern California that was relocated by Hauksson and others (2012). Along the San Andreas Fault, the deepest seismogenic depths are located at 23 km around the Cholame segment, whereas the shallowest depths...

This dataset comprises a vector shapefile of the Puerto Rico geologic map from Bawiec et al. (1999), clipped to study areas in the Lares, Utuado, and Naranjito municipalities, with a modified basal contact of the Tertiary Lares Limestone (Tla) re-mapped using a lidar-derived digital elevation model (DEM) (USGS, 2018). The limestone unit of interest forms a prominent break in slope with the underlying geologic units, and this break in slope was mapped as the Tla basal contact. Only the southern contact of the Tla unit was modified. Using the horizontal-to-vertical spectral-ratio (HVSR) method, we infer regolith thickness (i.e., depth to bedrock) throughout the Farmington River Watershed, CT, USA. Between Nov. 2019 and Nov. 2020, MOHO Tromino Model TEP-3C (MOHO, S.R.L.) three-component seismometers collected passive seismic recordings along the Farmington River and the upstream West Branch of Salmon Brook. From these recordings, we derived resonance frequencies using the GRILLA software (MOHO, S.R.L.), and then inferred potential regolith thicknesses based on likely shear wave velocities, Vs, intrinsic to the underlying sediment. Three potential shear wave velocities (Vs = 300m/s, 337m/s, 362 m/s) were considered for Farmington River watershed...
