USGS Gap Analysis Project (GAP) The Gap Analysis Project (GAP) is an element of the U.S. Geological Survey. GAP helps to implement the Department of the Interior’s goals of inventory, monitoring, research, and information transfer. Since the adoption of the first recovery plan under the Endangered Species Act in 1975, the Recovery Program has captured wild condors, captively bred, reared, and subsequently released into the wild and managed condors in their native habitat.
