A prepared sample (0.200 g) is added to lithium metaborate flux (0.90 g), mixed well and fused in a furnace at 1000 degrees Celsius. The resulting melt is then cooled and dissolved in 100 mL of 4% HNO3 / 2% HCl3 solution. This solution is then analyzed by inductively coupled plasma - mass spectrometry.

The XRF analyses were run on a PANalytical Axios spectrometer using SuperQ software. Nb, Rb, Sr, Y, and Zr were measured using SuperQ 37mmRbSrYZr routine software program; other elements were measured with the IQ+37mmVac software program. The 37mmRbSrYZr routine uses specific predetermined peak and background positions for which X-Ray intensities are measured for 2-800 seconds (depending on the element). The intensity of the RhCompton peak is used to estimate mass-absorption coefficients (MACs) for both unknowns and well-characterized natural standards. Peak intensities are computed and converted to concentrations using calibration curves employing at least ten natural rock standards. Note: the reported values may...

A calcined or ignited sample (0.9 g) is added to 9.0g of Lithium Borate Flux (50% - 50% Li2 B4 O7 - LiBO2), mixed well and fused in an auto fluxer between 1050 - 1100 degrees Celsius. A flat molten glass disc is prepared from the resulting melt. This disc is then analyzed by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry.

Previously associated with BLM OFR 94 and BLM OFR 100, mysterious values for Hg with CVAA, Sn, and W with ICP-AES-MS

Typical analysis for rocks and sediments was a 1.1 oz (31 g) gold-platinum-palladium fire assay, followed by a 50 element aqua-regia digestion, and a combination of induced coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS) and ultra trace induced coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES)analysis. These analyses were followed by pressed pellet X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) analysis for barite, tin, and tungsten. Samples with assay results exceeding element-specific detection limits for the standard analysis were reanalyzed by a variety of element-specific procedures.

Rock samples were analyzed by inductively coupled plasma (ICP) spectroscopy. Samples with visible quantities of either gold, silver, platnium group elements, copper, lead, zinc, tin, molybdemum, chromium, nickel, or antimony had fire assay or atomic absorption analyses performed for those elements.

Rock samples were preconcentrated using a solution of nitric-aqua-regia leach techniques before analysis using either atomic absorption or inductively coupled argon plasma spectroscopy. Several samples were analyzed for the element using both techniques. The results from the more accurate method is reported. Several rock chip samples were analyzed for rare-earth elements (REE) by neutron activation analysis (NAA).
