Acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) data were collected at multiple transects spaced in a regular grid throughout Calumet Harbor on May 12, 2015 to determine the spatial distribution of layer-averaged velocities. The data were layer-averaged in 2-foot increments of depth from the bed to the water surface, and temporally-averaged over a 30-second window to reduce noise. The text file "PET.txt" contains hourly potential evapotranspiration (PET) data in thousandths of an inch from January 1, 1948, to September 30, 2017. Daily PET in thousandths of an inch is computed from average daily air temperature in degrees Fahrenheit (°F), average daily dewpoint temperature in degrees Fahrenheit (°F), daily total wind movement in miles (mi), and daily total solar radiation in Langleys per day (Lg/d) and disaggregated to hourly PET in thousandths of an inch using the Fortran program LXPET (Murphy, 2005). These data were collected in support of a multi-agency effort to evaluate the feasibility of using carbon dioxide to create a barrier and prevent upstream passage of invasive fish through navigational locks. The auxiliary lock at Lock and Dam 14 on the Mississippi River near Pleasant Valley, Iowa, was chosen for a field-scale trial of the carbon dioxide barrier to be conducted in 2018. In preparation for this trial, the mixing in the lock chamber during routine operations and the fate and transport of lock water released to the pool downstream was studied using a dye tracer. This data release presents a peak-flow frequency analysis (Eash and others, 2013) for U.S. Geological Survey streamgage 06810000 Nishnabotna River above Hamburg, Iowa. These methods are used to provide estimates of peak-flow quantiles for 50-, 20-, 10-, 4-, 2-, 1-, 0.5-, and 0.2-percent annual exceedance probabilities (AEPs). These data were collected using a 1200 kHz TRDI Rio Grande acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) in mode 12 with 25 centimeter bins from a moving boat. The data were georeferenced with a Hemisphere V102 differential Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver with submeter accuracy. The data were processed in the Velocity Mapping Toolbox (Parsons and others, 2013) to obtain a mean velocity field for each cross section from individual transects at each cross section. ADCP data were collected on July 31-August 1, 2013 in the Dresden Island Pool on the Des Plaines River using a Teledyne Rio Grande 1200 kHz Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler with integrated Trimble Ag162 GPS.
