This data release contains modeled daily chlorophyll concentration for 82 streams and rivers across the conterminous United States. Estimates of daily chlorophyll concentration were generated using an extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) (Chen & Guestrin, 2016) machine learning model and various measures of water quality, reach characteristics, and meteorology. Child Items in this data release contain: Site information: This child item contains station identifiers, location information, location type, stream order, and associated NHDPlusv2.1 reach common unique identifiers (ComID). The file format is tab-delimted with 1 row per station. Model inputs and outputs: This child item contains XGBoost model inputs, observed...

This child item model archive summary documents a surrogate regression model to estimate suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) at the Schoharie Creek at Burtonsville, New York (U.S. Geological Survey station number 01351500). The methods used follow USGS guidance in relevant Office of Surface Water/Office of Water Quality Technical Memoranda and USGS Techniques and Methods, book 3, chap. 4 (Rasmussen and others, 2009). Sixty-one concurrent measurements of SSC and turbidity, collected from October 1, 2015, through May 2, 2020, were used in the model calibration dataset. Samples were collected across 75 percent of the range in observed discharge and 87 percent of the range in observed turbidity during the model calibration...

This data release contains phytoplankton classification and enumeration results from two moving boat surveys conducted on July 15 - 18, 2019 and August 19 - 22, 2019. These data were collected from the Caloosahatchee River and estuary, the St. Lucie River and estuary, and Lake Okeechobee with funding provided by the USGS Priority Ecosystems Greater Everglades Program.
This data release supports an analysis of changes in dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and nitrate concentrations in Buck Creek watershed near Inlet, New York 2001 to 2021. The Buck Creek watershed is a 310-hectare forested watershed that is recovering from acidic deposition within the Adirondack region. The data release includes pre-processed model inputs and model outputs for the Weighted Regressions on Time, Discharge and Season (WRTDS) model (Hirsch and others, 2010) to estimate daily flow normalized concentrations of DOC and nitrate during a 20-year period of analysis. WRTDS uses daily discharge and concentration observations implemented through the Exploration and Graphics for River Trends R package (EGRET) to...

Digital hydrogeologic datasets were developed for the Cincinnatus study area in upstate New York in cooperation with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. These datasets define the hydrogeologic framework of the valley-fill aquifer and surrounding till-covered uplands within the study area. Datasets include: bedrock elevation raster, lacustrine silt and clay top and bottom elevation rasters, lidar minimum elevation raster, lacustrine extent polygon, valley-fill extent polygon, and surficial geology polygons. An alternate geologic interpretation was considered for modeling purposes. An alternate lacustrine extent and top and bottom elevation rasters are included within this data release. Elevation...

This dataset includes "smoothing points" used in the creation of the Greene hydrogeologic framework. Smoothing points were manually added by the project team and were used to enhance interpolated layers using geologic assumptions and include: valley edge points, bedrock points derived from cross sections, centerline bedrock points (and where applicable L1 and L2 points), and upland bedrock SURGO points.

This dataset includes well logs used in the creation of the Cincinnatus hydrogeologic framework. Well logs were used from multiple sources (DEC, DOT, NWIS) and were a crucial component in generating hydrogeologic layer elevations and thicknesses. Well logs are available in their original form on GeoLog Locator (https://webapps.usgs.gov/GeoLogLocator/#!/) and provided here in the digitized form (shapefiles and feature classes), which were used in the generation of the hydrogeologic framework.

This dataset includes well logs used in the creation of the Jamestown hydrogeologic framework. Well logs were used from multiple sources (DEC, DOT, NWIS, ESOGIS, and recently digitized archived material) and were a crucial component in generating hydrogeologic layer elevations and thicknesses. Well logs are available in their original form on GeoLog Locator (https://webapps.usgs.gov/GeoLogLocator/#!/) and provided here in the digitized form (shapefiles and feature classes), which were used in the generation of the hydrogeologic framework.
The town of Olean is located in Cattaraugus County, New York. Previous USGS reports here include Water- Resource Investigations Report 87-4043 (Yager and Bergeron, 1998), Water- Resource Investigations Report 85-4082 (Bergeron, 1987), and Water- Resource Investigations Report 85-4157 (Zarriello and Reynolds, 1987). The five child pages below break the data up into georeferenced and digitized previous report data, interpreted geologic information, well logs, supplemental point data, and interpolation statistics.

This child item data set contains acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) data collected during 2019 from an open water platform on Skaneateles Lake New York (USGS station number 425606076251601) as part of the Advanced Monitoring Pilot study. This data set includes the raw binary data files from the ADCPs as well as tabulated text files of echo intensity, backscatter, velocity, and ancillary data. Tables were created by processing raw data files in R-language oceanographic package OCE (Kelley and others, 2022) and TRDI WinRiver II (Teledyne RD Instruments, 2007). All aggregation, manual magnetic variation calculations, and post-processing were completed using Python libraries pandas (McKinney, 2010) and NumPy...

This child item dataset contains shapefiles and rasters defining the hydrogeologic framework of Kings, Queens, and Nassau Counties, New York. These data were derived from 643 lithologic and (or) geophysical logs, defining 1,715 contacts between different aquifers and confining units across western Long Island. Extents, contour elevation lines and interpolated surfaces were created for each of the framework units. These data are accessible as an online webmap: https://ny.water.usgs.gov/maps/lisustainabilityphase1viewer/

Problem: The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) was established to accelerate ecosystem restoration in the Great Lakes by confronting the most serious treats to the region, such as nonpoint source pollution, toxic sediments, and invasive species. Much of the effort associated with GLRI is being placed near the most impacted areas in the Great Lakes Basin. Priority Watersheds have been targeted by the Regional Working Group’s Phosphorus Reduction Work Group. These Priority Watersheds (Fox/Green Bay, Saginaw, Genessee, and Maumee) are characterized by having a high density of agricultural land use and have ecosystem impairments that have been clearly identified. The outlet of each of the Priority Watersheds...
