Efforts from cooperators have increased the access of available data to the National Fish Habitat Partnership. Additionally the transformation of select datasets have been conducted to link the data to the NFHP spatial framework for the national inland assessment, based on the framework explained in A hierarchical spatial framework and database for the national river fish habitat condition assessment which uses the NHDPlusV1 (1:100k) as a base layer. Providing these new data formats to the National Fish Habitat Partnership, partners, and stakeholders enables progress toward building consistent data nationally while reducing duplicative efforts.

This CSV file contains landscape factors representing anthropogenic disturbances to stream habitats summarized within local and network stream catchments as well as 90 m local and network buffer of stream reaches throughout the conterminous U.S. The source datasets compiled and attributed to spatial units were identified as being: (1) meaningful for assessing fluvial fish habitat; (2) consistent across the entire study area in the way that they were assembled; (3) broadly representative of conditions in the past 10 years, and (4) of sufficient spatial resolution that they could be used to make valid comparisons among local catchment units. Variables summarized at the catchment scale include measures of anthropogenic...

The Regional Estuary Assessment for the northern Gulf of Mexico represents an effort to develop, test, and implement a new assessment methodology for marine habitats that improves the analytical basis for identifying impacts to estuary fish habitats. Building from work completed for the National Estuary Assessment, this approach includes: 1) information on fish and shellfish presence/absence from over 70,000 sampling events collected over two decades, to better relate fish habitat condition to natural and anthropogenic variables; 2) data on natural factors, to better incorporate information on the natural susceptibility of individual estuaries; and 3) regional datasets not available on a nationally-consistent basis....

This geodatabase contains 90 meter buffers of streams within the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 1 (NHDPlusV1). These buffers were developed by converting NHDPlusV1 flowlines to a 30m grid, then running a euclidean allocation function in ArcPy to generate buffer zones. For flowlines representing artificial paths within NHD area river polygons, buffers extend from the outside edges ("banks") of the polygon outward. The source code for buffer development can be found at https://github.com/ArthurCooper/NFHP-Buffer-Code.

This map service displays a composite view of the National Fish Habitat Partnership's (NFHP) 2015 National Assessment of Fish Habitat Condition Index (HCI) Scores for both streams and estuaries. HCI scores represent current risk of fish habitat degradation due to anthropogenic disturbance factors. Fish habitats with very high risk of habitat degredation are shown in red, high risk in orange, moderate risk in green, low risk in blue and very low risk in purple. For detailed information about the input datasets used to derive this service see the following links: http://assessment.fishhabitat.org/#578a9a43e4b0c1aacab89763/578a99f4e4b0c1aacab89699.

This service definition contains sub-indices comprised of various anthropogenic land use/covers respresentative of the risk of potential habitat degradation to streams within the state of Hawaii. This file is an updated version of 'nfhap_hci_hawaii.shp' and incorporates the suggestion from the Hawaii Fish Habitat Partnership of removing trails and paths from the road network to help better represent amounts of disturbance in remote areas such as the Na Pali coast. Subindices are summarized for local and network catchments specific to perennial stream reaches throughout the state. The local and network catchments were developed using a modified version of the 1:24,000 scale National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) as a...

This geodatabase contains information on brook trout occupancy in the southern portion of the brook trout range (PA and south). Fish sample data from a number of state and federal agencies/organizations were used to define patches for brook trout as groups of occupied contiguous catchment polygons from the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 1 (NHDPlusV1) catchment GIS layer. After defining patches, NHDPlusV1 catchments were assigned occupancy codes. Then state and federal agencies reviewed patches and codes to verify data accuracy. A similar effort is currently being conducted by the Eastern Brook Trout Joint Venture to develop occupancy data for the remainder of the brook trout range including states of...

This map service contains summaries of habitat condition indices (HCI scores) from the National Fish Habitat Action Plan (NFHAP) 2010 assessment for Ecological Drainage Units (EDUs) in the Conterminous United States. Initial HCI scores were developed using landscape factors representing human disturbances summarized to local and network catchments of river reaches throughout the Conterminous United States. Habitat condition scores were based on responsiveness of biological metrics to anthropogenic landscape disturbances throughout ecoregions. Separate scores were created by considering disturbances within local catchments, network catchments, and a cumulative score that accounted for the most limiting disturbance...
