The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) utilizes several sampling gears for fisheries-independent monitoring of finfish and shellfish communities. They include bag seines, trawls, gill nets and oyster dredges. TPWD uses multiple gears in a random sampling protocol, and they identify (to the lowest taxonomic unit possible) and count everything that they collect. The HMAP database (http://www.hull.ac.uk/hmap) is an open access facility that currently comprises time series of commercial catches covering the period 1611-2000. It is a growing resource and extends more that 240,000 records and more than 100 species. Data are mostly recovered from archives, tax records, custom records or surveys. Abundance and biomass of fish species collected during the day from 1988 to 2000 off the coast of the southeastern United States (Cape Fear, NC to Cape Canaveral, FL). Chevron traps were set on live-bottom reef areas on the continental shelf and upper slope. Chevron traps were arrowhead shaped (maximum dimensions of 1.5 m x 1.7 m x 0.6 m.; 0.91 m3 volume) and constructed of 35 mm x 35 mm square mesh plastic-coated wire. This dataset contains seabird survey and associated environmental conditions data collected in the Chukchi Sea during the 9 August - 3 September 2015 and 5 August - 25 August 2017 Arctic Marine Biodiversity Observing Network (AMBON) research cruises. Seabirds were surveyed using line transect methods. Seabird observations were recorded directly into a laptop computer using software which logged the geographic coordinates of each sighting. The Minerals Management Service (MMS), Alaska OCS Region funded a pilot survey in 2008 of the offshore marine fishes of the Beaufort Sea. This was the first offshore marine fish survey to have taken place since an opportunistic survey in 1977 (Frost and Lowry 1983).
