This catalog of 349 deep wells in Maryland provides a readily accessible source of deep stratigraphic data in the State. The wells listed include 162 drilled in search of oil or gas, 39 drilled for gas storage injection, 21 drilled to test geologic structures for possible use as gas sotrage facilities, 88 deep water wells, 31 deep stratigraphic tests, and 8 deep core holes. Every oil or gas well drilled in Maryland is listed, regardless of its depth, but only those water wells having a depth greater than 1,000 feet are included, except where wells of lesser depth provide significant stratigraphic information. In those counties where no wells have been drilled as deep as 1,000 feet, the deepest well in the county...

During the summer of 2010, 18 test wells and one continuous core hole were drilled at eight sites on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The wells were drilled as part of several investigations into the hydrogeologic characteristics of Coastal Plain aquifers on the Delmarva Peninsula. The core hole and 14 test wells were drilled at Martinak, Greensboro, Cordova, Idylwild, and Warner to assess the hydraulic connectivity of sands within the Calvert aquifer system (Miocene age). Two wells were drilled at the Church Hill site to estimate the connectivity of the Aquia and Hornerstown Formations. Single test wells were drilled at the Sassafras and LESREC sites to obtain hydrogeologic information on the Monmouth and Manokin...

This report is the second in a series of reports describing the hydrologic conditions in an area of underground coal mining in southwestern Garrett County, Maryland. Hydrologic and mining data collected during the second study phase (October 1981 to September 1984) are presented, and changes in mining activity and hydrologic conditions between the first and second study phases are briefly noted.

The original mined land inventory by Kuff (1980) was shown on a planimetric county, map (1:62,500) with selected geologic mineral resource areas shown. The base map, shown here is a modified version of the digital geologic map of Prince George's County, by Glaser (2003); essentially it is the digital geologic map without the topographic, contour layer or the loam layer and with a more detailed version of the roads layer., The original text by Kuff (1980) that pertains to the mined land inventory is, included on this sheet. Details about the digital compilation are provided in the metadata, for each digital layer.
