We used NLCD 2011, SSURGO, and SEGAP data to map the density of desired resources for open pine ecosystems and six focal species of birds and 2 reptiles within the historic range of longleaf pine east of the Mississippi River. Binary rasters were created of sites with desired characteristics such as land form, hydrology, land use and land cover, soils, potential habitat for focal species, and putative source populations of focal species. Each raster was smoothed using a kernel density estimator. Rasters were combined and scaled to map priority locations for the management of each focal species. Species’ rasters were combined and scaled to provide maps of overall priority for birds and for birds and reptiles. For...

The first portion of this dataset provides the survival, retention, and growth of Emerald Shiner Notropis atherinoides (EMS) tagged with passive integrated transponder (PIT) tags and Arkansas River Shiner Notropis girardi (ARS) tagged with visible implant elastomer (VIE), PIT, and micro transponder p-Chip tags. Experiments were undertaken in the laboratory at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK, USA July 2018-March 2020. Emerald Shiner was initially tagged as a surrogate for Arkansas River Shiner to reduce the usage of this federally threatened species; however, we suspected that Emerald Shiner was not a suitable surrogate for Arkansas River Shiner due to low recaptures in the first field season. Thus, Arkansas...

There are four data tables (csv documents) provided here which are formatted according to tidy data principles. We identified sites centered on known murrelet nest trees (nest sites) and on randomly selected trees (control sites) and the first table contains variables that vary at the site level. Each site had up to three stations where occupancy surveys were collected, so the second table contains variables varying at the station level. Each station was surveyed multiple times, and the third table contains variables varying at the survey level. Lastly, we had a camera trained on the nests at our active nest sites and the fourth table contains one row for every recorded action taken by an adult or nestling.
