This file describes a set of outputs from the Sea Level Affecting Marshes Model (SLAMM), which consists of rasters containing SLAMM’s coastal cover categories (classes) for a study area on the Gulf of Mexico (U.S.) coast. The model was used to simulate the impact of sea level rise (SLR) on these coastal cover classes, with an emphasis on wetlands, for the “Evaluation of Regional SLAMM Results to Establish a Consistent Framework of Data and Models” project. The project was performed by Warren Pinnacle Consulting, Inc., and Image Matters LLC. The project was funded by the Gulf Coast Prairie Landscape Conservation Cooperative (LCC). A coordinated network of landscape conservation cooperatives (each an “LCC”) is being...

Collection of decoded radio collar telemetry data created by the proprietary “Telonics Data Converter” (TDC) software (version 2.64) from raw Iridium (.idf) files. The TDC software associates collar programming parameters from “TPF” files with related transmitters and decodes the raw Iridium data to produce three text files for each transmitter: a telemetry data file, a transmitter statistics file and a Google Earth KML file. Newly converted data is appended to existing transmitter files. The TDC software was configured to create the telemetry data file in the Telonics “Complete CSV” format. The telemetry CSV files has a 24 line header, with the 24th line containing the column names. The statistics CSV file has...

The role of lynx dispersal in maintaining their populations at the landscape scale is unclear. A large proportion of local lynx populations are known to disperse following a snowshoe hare population crash, but whether these dispersal events contribute to the cyclic dynamics of neighboring populations is not well understood. If lynx dispersal does play an important role in lynx population dynamics then the conservation of dispersal corridors is critical to maintaining those dynamics. However, we currently have no information on the habitat requirements of dispersing lynx in relation to human land use, such as housing developments, road building, timber harvest, and mining, all of which could have a substantial impact...

In the face of sea level rise and as climate change conditions increase the frequency and intensity of tropical storms along the north-Atlantic Coast, coastal areas will become increasingly vulnerable to storm damage, and the decline of already-threatened species could be exacerbated. Predictions about response of coastal birds to effects of hurricanes will be essential for anticipating and countering environmental impacts. This project will assess coastal bird populations, behavior, and nesting in Hurricane Sandy-impacted North Carolina barrier islands. The project comprises three components: 1) ground-based and airborne lidar analyses to examine site specific selection criteria of coastal birds; 2) NWI classification...
