The Hualien cluster is named for a city on the east coast of Taiwan. The region has been very seismically active at magnitudes up to low magnitude 6 in recent decades but on April 2, 2024 it experienced a 7.4 Mw earthquake. The cluster includes the mainshock of the April 2024 sequence and 15 of the larger aftershocks. Local and regional data from the very dense Taiwan network is available for events up to June 2022 but for the more recent events only a handful of the Taiwanese stations were available at the time of this analysis. Recent events all have large datasets of far-regional and teleseismic readings, however, and are well-constrained in the cluster. Only three events have magnitude less than 5.0. All events...

These data were compiled for/to modeling efforts for U.S. Bureau of Reclamation National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analyses for the Colorado River in Grand Canyon, Arizona. Objective(s) of our study were to create revised monthly Lake Powell elevations and outflows from Bureau of Reclamation Colorado River Mid-term Modeling System (CRMMS) traces that incorporate the alternatives in the sEIS documents and indicate when potential actions may occur and how that changes water movement and storage. These data represent monthly hydrologies for Lake Powell: inflow, outflow, and elevation forecasts for 2024-2027, as well as volumes of water in outflows for different water mangement strategies in NEPA supplemental...

In recent decades, Rocky Mountain accumulated snowpack levels have experienced rapid declines, yet long-term records of snowpack prior to the installation of snowpack observation stations in the early and mid 20th century are limited. To date, a small number of tree-ring based reconstructions of April 1 Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) in the northern Rocky Mountains have extended modern records of snowpack variability to ~1200 C.E. Carbonate isotope lake sediment records, provide an opportunity to further extend tree-ring based reconstructions through the Holocene, providing a millennial-scale temporal record that allows for an evaluation of multi-scale drivers of snowpack variability, from internal climate dynamics...

During November 2018, the Camp Fire burned more than 150,000 acres in Butte County, California. The fire was the deadliest and most destructive in California history, destroying more than 18,000 structures and causing at least 85 fatalities. The U.S. Geological Survey sampled surface water in areas affected by the Camp Fire, plus an unburned control site, during two post-fire sampling events, January 21-23, 2019 and February 28 - March 1, 2019. During each of those two sampling events, surface-water samples were collected at 8 stream locations. These 16 water samples were filtered using filters with multiple pore sizes (1.2 µm, 0.8 µm, 0.45 µm, and 0.22 µm) to evaluate colloid transport of trace elements. The filtrates...

This collection contains the original “raw” survey data that were recorded and transcribed by each observer during the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta (YKD) Aerial Breeding Pair Survey. Left-front and right-front seat observers recorded data on geese, swans, and cranes since 1985, while data on eiders, ducks, and waterbirds was recorded by a right-rear seat observer since 1989. These raw transcribed data should be used to produce updated quality-control (QC) datasets by running the quality assurance/quality control script “AKaerial.R” whenever the quality control procedures are revised or modified. The data files in this collection were named using the following naming convention: YKD(YKG)YYYY_RawObs_OOOO, where YKD=Duck...

Observer-specific population indices for the USFWS Region Migratory Bird Management Arctic Coastal Plain study area. The survey consists of low-level aerial observations of waterfowl on a stratified strip transect design. The resulting data frame is several indices separated by observer and calculated using a standard ratio estimator. These data are output from the R package AKaerial and are also available within that package, see https://github.com/USFWS/AKaerial. The data used to produce these estimates contain known errors. Many but not all of these errors are corrected within the R package AKaerial. These data are presented for historical purposes only. See https://github.com/USFWS/ACP-Mapping and comments within...

This data release provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution airborne radiometric survey over parts of Montana in the vicinity of the Boulder Batholith. The airborne survey was jointly funded by the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative and Kennecott Exploration Company. The survey was designed to meet complementary needs related to geologic mapping and characterization of mineral resource potential. A total of 34,041 line km of magnetic and radiometric data were acquired over an irregular-shaped area of 6178 km2. Data were collected from a helicopter flown at a nominal terrain clearance of 100 meters (m) above topography along E-W flight lines spaced at 200 m intervals. Tie lines were flown in an N-S...

This data release contains three data sets. The data were collected in 1996 at the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, ND, USA. The main data set comprises the list of plant species observed and includes the transect, plot number, plot size, and vegetation type where each species was found. A second data set has the locations of the transects, along with their IDs which can be linked to the species list. The final data set is a list of nomenclature updates and species that had duplicates in ITIS, along with the currently accepted scientific names of these species.

On February 14th, 2019, a strong atmospheric river storm (AR4 on the Atmospheric River scale of Ralph et al., 2019) struck California. The heavy rainfall caused landslides in both northern and southern California (Hatchett et al., 2020). This data release includes two subsets of mapped shallow landslide source locations in the vicinity of western Riverside County, California, where sufficient post-event imagery was available within Google Earth (image date: August 15, 2019). The data release includes: 1) .csv files containing the point locations of shallow hillslope landslides, 2) .zip files containing shapfiles (.shp) of the mapped study areas. Ralph, F., Rutz, J. J., Cordeira, J. M., Dettinger, M., Anderson,...
