The Nurek cluster is named for the Nurek Dam and Reservoir along the Vakhsh River in Tajikistan. The cluster includes several earthquakes in the low-5 magnitude range. Most of the seismicity appears to be associated with the reservoir and some of the seismicity may have been induced by the filling of the reservoir. It is notable that the the period 1999-2010 produced no earthquakes large enough to be included in the cluster. Number of events: 43 Calibration type: direct calibration using data to 1.2 degrees; hypocentroid calibration level = 1.2 km Epicentral calibration range: 2 - 5 km Date...

This collection primarily contains economic geologic information on mines in Mohave County, but also includes more general files on other states and mineral commodities. William Crutchfield, Jr. earned his master's degree from The University of California in 1953. He began working for Santa Fe Mining, Inc. in California in the 1960s as a Mining Engineer and later as Exploration Manager. He stayed with the company until the 1980s.

Guy Atlee lived and worked in the Kingman area working the Turquoise mine (Mineral Park) and other mines near Chloride (IXL, Wrigley), Cerbat, and Kingman. He is known to have worked and traveled in the Victorville, Topock and other areas of California. Guy’s wife was Rose Atlee and they had a large family. The collection includes images of mines and workings as well as many images depicting daily life in Mohave County. The photos appear to cover a period from about the turn of the century through the 1920s.

This data set consist of digital data describing (ACEC) Areas of Critical and Environmental Concern for Public Lands in the State of Colorado. ACECs are designated by decisions made during BLM Resource Management Planning. Existing ACECs have a Resouce value tied to them. An example of these resources would be: Threatened and Endangered Plants. Other areas of concern have also been captured within this theme. When the users opens up the attribute table for this theme the user will notice ACEC follows most of names for each area. Some BLM field offices also included RNAs and ONAs with in their layer. ONAs are... Outstanding Natural Areas and RNAs are... Research Natural Area The data set was compiled from the most...

Project Synopsis: the Ferris Mountain project area consists of mainly timbered slopes, interspersed with upland areas dominated by sagebrush, grass, and mountain shrub communities. Timber stands within the project unit consist of Douglas fir, subalpine fir, spruce, lodgepole pine, limber pine, and aspen, in addition to scattered locations of Rocky Mountain juniper. Long-term suppression of wildfires has promoted the encroachment of conifers into shrublands, aspen stands, and drainages supporting aspen, waterbirch and willows, to the point where many of these communities are non-functional. Decadence and disease is commonly observed in terms of mistletoe, blister rust, and bleeding rust, and pine beetles have...

One of the greatest challenges facing the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) in the 21st century will be our ability to maintain sustainable fish and wildlife populations and meet the expectations and desire of our citizens. We approach habitat conservation and management on a landscape/watershed scale based on the needs of all fish and wildlife and citizens who either enjoy and/or depend on wildlife, and the land and water resources of the State. This requires a great deal of teamwork and a broader view of our responsibilities. Addressing habitat needs and issues that seek to maintain open spaces, non-fragmented, quality habitats and the ability of fish and wildlife to utilize these areas provides an opportunity...

The collection of hand samples was obtained from projects of the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority (MWRA) related to the construction of water and sewer lines, throughout mainly the eastern part of the state. The collection consists of 525 hand samples from which thin sections (525) were made; in addition, there are 21 boxes containing approximately 2 pound, hand samples from work on the Cosgrove Tunnel Project. The samples were collected by Father James Skehan and each chunk of rock has an identifier painted on it, referring to the station location. The thin sections and the hand samples are stored in cardboard boxes, on pallets, at the Record Center, on Deer Island in Boston Harbor. The condition of the collection...

General Paleontological samples, most are not cataloged. Consists of approximately 150,000 samples in total, most arranged by time period: Cambrian (1500), Ordovician (15,000), Silurian (17,000), Devonian (10,000), Mississippian (15,000), Pennsylvanian (77,000), and Tertiary/Cretaceous (100). Approximately 10,500 specimens are arranged by taxonomic group including brachiopods (7500), cephalopods (1000), and trilobites (2000).

We will develop a set of linked models to help predict the effects of climate change on rivers and endangered species. These will include watershed- and reach-scale models to predict streamflow, water temperatures, and other fish habitat metrics under various climatic scenarios for the reaches used by species listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), plus a combined bioenergetics and life-cycle model (to be done by the U.S. Geological Survey [USGS]) to assess the impact of these factors on fish growth, reproduction, and survival. We propose to test the model framework at a site on the Methow River, Washington, to explore additional opportunities for collaboration and model development.

Collection of reports containing from one to up to several hundred pages and water well files related to the MX Missile Project of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The collection is in 2 4-drawer filing cabinets. The geologic/hydrologic reports are kept at the NBMG, and some years ago, the cultural reports were sent to the Nevada Historical Society. The "Amount" is based on the number of reports and files listed on a typed index that may need revision. MX Files The area covered by the project is part of eastern and central Nevada. The collection is indexed by a typed list of reports and files in a binder, which needs to be reviewed against what is in the collection. The collection may be considered to become part...

These reports describe in detail the history of individual oil & gas wells, including daily drilling activity, information on cores, showss amd drill-stem tests, and completion and production information. Well history reports - multiple page reports detailing drilling, testing, and completion work on oil & gas wells. This information should be scanned into a digital format that contains searchable data fields/metadata.

This collection contains coalbed methane desorption data on 31 coalbed methane test wells drilled in new Mexico. There are 589 pages of information. We would like to prepare a digital catalog of this infomartion and link that catalog to scanned images of the reports in order to increase/maximize utility.

Website of various Nevada geothermal resource information, which contains 227 geothermal site descriptions and related digital maps, photographs, and information sources. Geothermal Resources of Nevada Two NBMG geologists spend part of their time keeping up this database. Aside from the list of 227 geothermal sites which are linked to site descriptions and maps, the website also contains an interactive map based on NBMG Map 141, "Nevada Geothermal Resources," which shows locations of all significant occurrences of geothermal water in Nevada of which more than 300 are linked to site descriptions and/or databases accessed by mouse clicks; links to the files used to create the interactive map; a list linked to 82 large-scale...
