This Data Release provides spatial data to support analysis of land cover change and channel width change in the Bogachiel and Calawah River basins, Washington. This supports a larger analysis that quantifies suspended-sediment yields for the two basins for water years 1977-1978 and more recently, for water years 2019-2021. Collectively the study evaluates influences of hydrology, geology, fire, and land cover change on suspended-sediment yields. The metadata file describes the Data Release structure, but briefly, this Data Release includes zipped files of: 1. Historical imagery for the Bogachiel and Calawah River basins, 2. shapefiles of digitized centerline, active channel areas, and cleared areas for the two...

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This vector coverage of hydrography centerlines was derived from the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD), and encompasses all of Ohio and portions of Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York. This coverage is comprised of 105 Catalog Units (CUs) obtained from http://nhd.usgs.gov/. Each CU approximately represents a single 8-digit Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC).
