Survey of geology, geologic materials, and geologic hazards in proposed access corridors in selected quadrangles, Alaska

As part of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) effort to make final recommendations of federal land parcels to be considered for selection by the State of Alaska according to provisions of the Statehood Act, a decision was made to identify and evaluate potential access corridors. Corridor maps were compiled for a total of 78 quadrangles throughout Alaska. This map suite shows relevant geologic information at a scale of 1:250,000 for 10-mile-wide corridors straddling centerlines for proposed access routes throughout Alaska. Surficial-geologic map of the northern Fairbanks mining district, Circle Quadrangle, Alaska

This surficial-geologic map shows the distribution of unconsolidated deposits and undifferentiated bedrock in the Faith Creek area in the Circle A-4, A-5, B-4, and B-5 quadrangles. This map was prepared principally by the interpretation of 1:63,360-scale, false-color, infrared aerial photographs taken in 1979 and 1981 and is locally verified by ground observations during field work in 2007.

Major-oxide, minor-oxide, and trace-element geochemical data from rocks and stream sediments collected in the northern Fairbanks mining district, Circle quadrangle, Alaska in 2007

Mineral-resources personnel from the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys carried out a geological field survey, including mapping and sampling northeast of Fairbanks in the Circle A-4, A-5, B-4, and B-5 quadrangles, Alaska from May 31 to June 28, 2007. The fieldwork provides basic information critical to building an understanding of Alaska geology and is part of an integrated program of airborne geophysical surveys followed by geological mapping. During 2007, 128 rock samples were collected for geochemical trace-element analysis, and 44 rock samples were collected for whole rock (major- and minor-oxide) analysis. Geologic map of the Circle mining district, Alaska

This report provides detailed (1:63,360-scale) mapping of portions of U.S. Geological Survey Circle B-2 (1955), B-3 (1955), B-4 (1952), C-2 (1955), C-3 (1955), and C-4 (1952) quadrangles. The area is part of the Circle mining district and adjacent to the Fairbanks mining district. This report includes detailed geologic, structural, stratigraphic, and geochronologic data. Based on the resulting geologic maps, field investigations, and laboratory materials analyses, the project has also generated derivative maps of geologic construction materials and geologic hazards.

Analyses of historic U.S. Bureau of Mines samples for geochemical trace-element and rare-earth-element data from the Circle mining district, western Crazy Mountains, and the Lime Peak area of the White Mountains, Circle Quadrangle, east-central Alaska

This report and digital data release presents 286 new geochemical analyses on historic U.S. Bureau of Mines (USBM) samples, including 93 rock, 110 stream sediment, 52 soil, and 28 heavy mineral concentrate (pan concentrate) samples, as well as 3 samples of indeterminate type. These samples were originally collected as part of studies by the USBM in the Circle mining district, western Crazy Mountains, and Lime Peak area of the White Mountains, Circle Quadrangle, east-central Alaska. Historic USBM sample materials were retrieved by DGGS from the DGGS Geologic Materials Center (GMC), where the USBM samples were transferred as part of the federally funded Minerals Data and Information Rescue in Alaska (MDIRA) program...

Core fragment descriptions, Exxon core holes, uplands bordering Yukon Flats basin, east-central Alaska

This Raw Data File provides lithologic descriptions of core fragments recovered from a series of core holes drilled by Exxon (mid-80s) in the uplands bordering the Yukon Flats basin. In addition to descriptions of the material, the tabulated file includes geographic location, core hole numbers, an age estimate, core fragment depth, general lithology, grain size, and facies interpretation. The author examined these core materials in Fairbanks during winter and spring 2002. This work was done in preparation for an assessment carried out by the U.S. Geological Survey of undiscovered, technically recoverable hydrocarbon resources in the Yukon Flats basin.
