Survey of geology, geologic materials, and geologic hazards in proposed access corridors in selected quadrangles, Alaska

As part of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) effort to make final recommendations of federal land parcels to be considered for selection by the State of Alaska according to provisions of the Statehood Act, a decision was made to identify and evaluate potential access corridors. Corridor maps were compiled for a total of 78 quadrangles throughout Alaska. This map suite shows relevant geologic information at a scale of 1:250,000 for 10-mile-wide corridors straddling centerlines for proposed access routes throughout Alaska. Line, grid, and vector data, and maps for the airborne geophysical survey data of the Styx River Survey, parts of the Lime Hills and Tyonek quadrangles, southcentral Alaska

This digital publication, GPR 2008-3, contains data produced from airborne geophysical surveys conducted in 2007 and 2008 for the Styx River Survey area, southcentral Alaska. Aeromagnetic and electromagnetic data were acquired for about 715 sq miles. Data provided in GPR 2008-3 include (1) raw and processed linedata in Geosoft ASCII XYZ files, (2) gridded files of magnetic data, a calculated vertical magnetic gradient (first vertical derivative), apparent resistivity data, and a digital elevation model, (3) flight lines in vector format, and maps of the data in PDF format. Data are described in more detail in the 'gpr2008_003_readme.pdf' and 'Styx-Linedata.txt' files included on the DVD.

This digital publication, GPR 2014-4, contains CGG's analysis and interpretation of data produced from airborne geophysical surveys published by DGGS in 2013 (GPR 2013-1) and 2014 (GPR 2014-5) for the Middle Styx and Farewell survey areas respectively. The two survey blocks Farewell and Middle Styx are referred to as the 'Farewell' survey in the project report as these blocks were flown under one contract. The Cenozoic Holitna basin is a gravity-defined feature that sits astride the Denali-Farewell fault zone in southwestern Alaska. The basin corresponds to a gravity low in excess of -40 milligals (mGals). No outcrops exist within the footprint of the gravity low and no subsurface data are available; consequently, the stratigraphy and age of its fill are unknown. Major-oxide, minor-oxide, and trace-element geochemical data from rocks in the Styx River area, Lime Hills C-1 Quadrangle, Lime Hills, McGrath, Talkeetna, and Tyonek quadrangles, Alaska

Geologists from the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) Mineral Resources Section conducted four weeks of helicopter-supported mapping and fieldwork from June 26 through July 24, 2013. This digital publication, GPR 2014-5, contains data produced from airborne geophysical surveys conducted in 2012 and 2013 for the East Styx survey area in the McGrath and Yentna mining districts, Talkeetna, Tyonek, McGrath, and Lime Hills quadrangles, south-central Alaska. Aeromagnetic, electromagnetic (EM), and radiometric data were acquired by helicopter for about 1060 sq miles. CGG's frequency-domain DIGHEM V system was used for the EM data. GPR 2014-5 includes (1) raw and processed linedata; (2) gridded, Google Earth, and Geotiff formats of the calculated linedata; (3) maps of the data and flight lines; and (4) vector files of data contours and flight lines.
