As part of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) effort to make final recommendations of federal land parcels to be considered for selection by the State of Alaska according to provisions of the Statehood Act, a decision was made to identify and evaluate potential access corridors. Corridor maps were compiled for a total of 78 quadrangles throughout Alaska. This map suite shows relevant geologic information at a scale of 1:250,000 for 10-mile-wide corridors straddling centerlines for proposed access routes throughout Alaska. The maps are based on geologic data compiled from existing, published mapping. Each compiled corridor geology map was used to derive maps of potential construction materials, data quality,...

Mineral-resources personnel from the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys carried out a geologic field survey, including mapping and sampling in the Moran area in the Tanana A-6 and B-6 quadrangles, and the Melozitna A-1, A2, B-1, and B-2 quadrangles, Alaska from June 17 to August 15, 2011. The fieldwork provides basic information critical to building an understanding of Alaska geology and is part of an integrated program of airborne geophysical surveys followed by geologic mapping. During 2011, 212 rock samples were collected for geochemical trace-element analysis, 58 rock samples were collected for whole-rock (major- and minor-oxide and petrogenetically important trace elements tables) analyses,...

Mineral-resources personnel from the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys conducted reconnaissance stream-sediment and pan-concentrate sampling in the Melozitna Mining District, Tanana and Melozitna quadrangles, from July 25 to August 13, 2011. This helicopter-supported sampling project was part of a statewide assessment of Alaska's potential for rare-earth element (REE) mineralization, and was funded by the Rare Earth Elements and Strategic Minerals Assessment capital improvement project. During this field project, 32 stream sediment and 28 heavy-mineral pan concentrate samples were collected for geochemical analysis (geochemical trace elements and rare earth elements). An additional historic U.S....

This digital publication, GPR 2010-1, contains data produced from airborne geophysical surveys conducted in 2009 for the Moran survey area in the south-central Melozitna mining district, Melozitna and Tanana quadrangles, central Alaska. Aeromagnetic, electromagnetic (EM), and radiometric data were acquired by helicopter for about 653 sq miles. Fugro Airborne Survey's frequency-domain DIGHEM V system was used for the EM data. GPR 2010-1 includes (1) raw and processed linedata; (2) gridded, Google Earth, and Geotiff formats of the calculated linedata; (3) maps of the data; and (4) vector files of data contours and flight lines.
