These data are high-resolution bathymetry (lake bottom elevation) in a gridded XYZ format, generated from hydrographic surveys of Morse and Geist Reservoirs in April and May of 2016. Hydrographic data were collected using a multibeam echo-sounder (MBES) with integrated inertial navigation solution (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Data were collected as the vessel traversed the lake along survey lines distributed throughout the area. Data collection software integrated and stored the depth data from the multibeam sonar and the horizontal and vertical position and attitude data of the vessel from the INS in real time. In the shallow areas, additional data were collected with an acoustic Doppler current profiler...

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. The elevation contour data was created based on bathymetry obtained in the meander reach collected in about a one month period extending from 6/3/2010 - 6/19/2010. This subset data extends from river kilometer designator 228 upstream to 237. Similar methods used to collect and process the bathymetry are described in Fosness (2013). The contours were created from a surface raster (also referred to as digital elevation model) of the...

This part of DS 781 presents data for the bathymetry map of the Offshore of Monterey map area, California. Bathymetry data are provided as separate grids depending on resolution. This metadata file refers to the data included in "BathymetryHS_2m_OffshoreMonterey.zip," which is accessible from https://doi.org/10.5066/F70Z71C8. These data accompany the pamphlet and map sheets of Johnson, S.Y., Dartnell, P., Hartwell, S.R., Cochrane, G.R., Golden, N.E., Watt, J.T., Davenport, C.W., Kvitek, R.G., Erdey, M.D., Krigsman, L.M., Sliter, R.W., and Maier, K.L. The Hudson Shelf Valley is the submerged seaward extension of the ancestral Hudson River drainage system and is the largest physiographic feature on the Middle Atlantic continental shelf. The valley begins offshore of New York and New Jersey at about 30-meter (m) water depth, runs southerly and then southeasterly across the Continental Shelf, and terminates on the outer shelf at about 85-m water depth landward of the head of the Hudson Canyon. Portions of the 150-kilometer-long valley were surveyed in 1996, 1998, and 2000 using a Simrad EM1000 multibeam echosounder mounted on the Canadian Coast Guard ship Frederick G. Creed. The purpose of the multibeam echosounder surveys was to map the bathymetry and backscatter...

The Sandy Hook artificial reef, located on the sea floor offshore of Sandy Hook, New Jersey was built to create habitat for marine life. The reef was created by the placement of heavy materials on the sea floor; ninety-five percent of the material in the Sandy Hook reef is rock. In 2000, the U.S. Geological Survey surveyed the area using a Simrad EM1000 multibeam echosounder mounted on the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) ship Frederick G. Creed. The purpose of this multibeam survey, done in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers when the Creed was in the New York region in April 2000, was to map the bathymetry and backscatter intensity of the sea floor in the area of the Sandy Hook artificial reef. The collected...

Water supply lakes are the primary source of water for many communities in northern and western Missouri. Therefore, accurate and up-to-date estimates of lake capacity are important for managing and predicting adequate water supply. Many of the water supply lakes in Missouri were previously surveyed by the U.S. Geological Survey in the early 2000s (Richards, 2013) and in 2013 (Huizinga, 2014); however, years of potential sedimentation may have resulted in reduced water storage capacity. Periodic bathymetric surveys are useful to update the area/capacity table and to determine changes in the bathymetric surface. Holden City Lake is a water supply lake used by the city of Holden in west-central Missouri. The surface...

These data are high-resolution bathymetry (riverbed elevation) and depth-averaged velocities in comma-delimited table format, generated from hydrographic and velocimetric surveys near highway bridge structures over the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers near St. Louis, Missouri, August 3–10, 2020. Hydrographic data were collected using a high-resolution multibeam echosounder mapping system (MBMS), which consists of a multibeam echosounder (MBES) and an inertial navigation system (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Data were collected as the vessel traversed the river along planned survey lines distributed throughout the reach. Data collection software integrated and stored the depth data from the MBES and the...
