The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) collected magnetic susceptibility measurements on rock outcrops to help understand causative sources of magnetic survey anomalies in the Silverton caldera region, southwest Colorado. A total of 1,400 measurements of magnetic susceptibility from 87 locations have been conducted on Paleogene volcanic and plutonic rocks that have been hydrothermally altered. Magnetic susceptibility measurements were taken using an SM30 handheld instrument manufactured by ZH Instruments. Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data were collected during April and May 2019 along 1,467 line-kilometers in the San Juan-Silverton Caldera complex, Colorado, in the Southern Rocky Mountain Volcanic Field. Data were acquired by Geotech, Ltd. with the versatile time-domain electromagnetic (VTEM-ET) system together with a Geometrics optically pumped cesium vapor magnetometer. The survey was flown at a mean flight height of 140 meters (m) above terrain in various line directions and line spacings ranging from 150 m to 600 m. The Rosa mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) migrate an average of 45 miles from northwest New Mexico to southwest Colorado. Their winter range is located in the upper San Juan Basin, east of the Navajo Reservoir, and is dominated by pinyon juniper woodlands and sagebrush grasslands. The Rosa herd utilize three distinct areas as summer range: the lower elevation Valle Seco, consisting primarily of ponderosa pine woodland and big sagebrush shrubland, and the higher elevation North and South San Juan Mountains, consisting of ponderosa pine and aspen-mixed woodlands. This 1:50,000-scale geologic map represents a compilation of the most recent geologic studies of the upper Arkansas River valley, between Leadville and Salida, Colorado. The valley is structurally controlled by an extensional fault system that forms part of the prominent northern Rio Grande rift, an intra-continental region of crustal extension. This work also incorporates new detailed geologic mapping of poorly understood areas within the map area and reinterprets previously studied areas, aided by lidar data that covers 59 percent of the map area. This data release presents geologic map data for the bedrock geology of the Durango 1-degree by 2-degree quadrangle. Geologic mapping incorporates new interpretive contributions and compilation from published geologic map data sources primarily ranging from 1:24,000 to 1:50,000 scale. Much of the geology incorporated from published geologic maps is adjusted based on digital elevation model and natural-color image data sources to improve spatial resolution of the data. Spatial adjustments and new interpretations also eliminate mismatches at source map boundaries. This data release presents geologic map data for the surficial geology of the Durango 1-degree by 2-degree quadrangle and adjacent areas along the northern boundary of the quadrangle. The map area lies within two physiographic provinces of Fenneman (1928): the Southern Rocky Mountains province, and the Colorado Plateau province, Navajo section. Geologic mapping is mostly compiled from published geologic map data sources ranging from 1:24,000 to 1:250,000 scale, with limited new interpretive contributions. This data release contains SnowModel snow evolution simulation output from water years 2022 to 2023 (October 1, 2021, through September 30, 2023) on a 100-meter (m) geospatial grid for a 3 kilometer (km) × 2 km model domain near Coal Creek off Coal Bank Pass in the San Juan Mountains in southwest Colorado, USA.
