This dataset is a raster surface, in feet, of the depth to water, spring 2016, Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer (MRVA). The raster cell size is 1,000 meters (3,280.8 ft). . The raster was interpolated using (1) depth-to-water (GW_D2W) data from wells and (2) an assumed value of zero for depth to water at streamgages (SW_D2W) because the precise depth to groundwater at the streamgage is not known. The streamgage data is used only when it appears the regional aquifer and surface water are hydrologically connected.

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM), magnetic, and radiometric data were acquired November 2019 to March 2020 along 24,030 line-kilometers (line-km) over the Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP). Data were acquired by CGG Canada Services, Ltd. with three different airborne sensors: the CGG Canada Services, Ltd. TEMPEST time-domain AEM instrument that is used to map subsurface geologic structure at depths up to 300 meters (m), depending on the subsurface resistivity; a Scintrex CS-3 cesium vapor magnetometer that detects changes in deep (hundreds of meters to kilometers) geologic structure based on variations in the magnetic properties of different formations; and a Radiation Solutions RS-500 spectrometer that detects the...

Since the 1940's, commercial, academic and government hydrologists have used aquifer tests to estimate the hydrogeologic properties of an aquifer near test wells. Results from these tests are recorded in various files, databases, reports, and scientific publications. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Lower Mississippi-Gulf Water Science Center (LMG) is aggregating all aquifer test results from Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee into a single dataset that is publicly available in a machine-readable format. The LMG-Hydrogeologic Aquifer Test Dataset – December 2021 contains information and results from 690 hydrogeologic aquifer tests. Additionally, this dataset contains 7 attribute tables...

This dataset contains monthly crop irrigation requirement (CIR) values from 1938 through 2014 for six canal service units used in the Lower Rio Grande Basin groundwater flow model (SSPA, 2007). CIR values from 1938 through 2010 were extracted from the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer’s (NMOSE’s) Canal spreadsheet, version 11.2 (Barroll, P., NMOSE, written commun., 2011). CIR values from 2011 through 2014 were copied from a year within the 1938 through 2010 dataset with a similar total annual precipitation as recorded at the State University, NM US station, part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCND) (NCDC,...

The U.S. Geological Survey Toxic Substances Hydrology Program at Cape Cod has been investigating the fate and transport of a treated-wastewater, groundwater contaminant plume. A portion of the contaminated groundwater discharges into Ashumet Pond, a kettle hole, freshwater lake. A study was conducted from June 2013 to June 2015 to document transport, transformation, and discharge of dissolved inorganic nitrogen species (DIN; nitrate, nitrite, and nitrous oxide) from the contaminant plume to the lake, across the groundwater-surface water interface. As part of that study, in October 2014, two natural gradient tracer tests were conducted within the lake bed sediments using nitrite as a reactive tracer and bromide as...

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data were collected during March 2018 along 1,637 line kilometers over the western Hualapai Indian Reservation and surrounding areas. The survey was conducted as part of a study of the groundwater resources of the Truxton basin and Hualapai Plateau. The survey was designed to improve the understanding of the geometry of major hydrostratigraphic contacts of the study area. Deterministic laterally constrained inversion of the processed AEM data was conducted using the AarhusINV code (Auken and others, 2014) implemented in Aarhus Workbench software (Aarhus Geosoftware, Aarhus, Denmark). Inversion parameters were selected by running a series of test models with varying...

Shallow subsurface electrical conductivity was mapped at Hansen National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in northeast Montana using the DUALEM421 electromagnetic sensor (Dualem, Inc., ON, Canada) in the winter of 2017. Data were acquired by towing the DUALEM421 sensor on a sled behind an all-terrain vehicle or snow machine, with the sensor at a nominal height of 0.3 meters (m) above ground surface. Approximately 10 line-kilometers (km) of data were acquired over an area of approximately .2 square-kilometers. Data were manually edited to remove sensor dropouts, lag corrected for apparent offsets between recorded GPS location and data locations for each coil pair, and averaged to a sounding distance of 1m along the survey path;...

Controlled source audio-frequency magnetotellurics (CSAMT) data were collected over the Sevier fault, near Red Knoll in Kane County Utah, to better understand the hydrogeology of the area. CSAMT data provide vertical cross-section (profile) data about the resistivity of the subsurface, which may be related to lithologic boundaries and (or) grain-size distribution in the subsurface. CSAMT involves transmitting a current at various frequencies in one location, and measuring resistivity differences between electrodes spaced along a receiver line several kilometers from the transmitter. Sevier_fault_CSAMT_InversionData.zip: Text files of inverted resistivity values, starting model values, and corresponding x, y, z coordinates....

Monroe County, in southeastern West Virginia, hosts world-class karst within carbonate units of Mississippian and Ordovician age. There are at least 412 known caves in the county. Location data for these caves were collected from the West Virginia Speleological Survey (WVASS) Bulletin 22 (Dasher, 2019). Point features were created in ArcGIS Pro for each cave location and were used to make a point density raster. This raster displays the number of cave points per square kilometer.

Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) surveys were collected in summer 2018 to support hydrogeologic characterization of the alluvial aquifer. For this investigation, 7 surveys were conducted with ERT methods. At each site three surveys were collected, including dipole-dipole (DD), Wenner-Schlumberger (WS), and Inverse Schlumberger (SI )configurations. For each survey a total of 56 electrodes spaced 5-meters (m) apart were used. During the ERT measurement, current is injected through two current electrodes and voltage is measured sequentially across multiple pairs of potential electrodes, which is used to determine the apparent resistivity of the subsurface. Results were combined into a merged dataset. ERT surveys...
This data release contains input data used in model development and TIF raster files used to predict the probability of low dissolved oxygen (DO) and high dissolved iron (Fe) in groundwater within the glacial aquifer system in the northern continental United States. Input data include measured DO and Fe concentrations at groundwater wells, and associated predictor variable data. The probability of low DO and high Fe was predicted using boosted regression tree methods using the gbm package in R (v. 4.0.0) in RStudio (v. 1.2.5042). The response variables for individual models were the occurrence of: (1) DO ≤0.5 mg/L, (2) DO ≤2 mg/L, and (3) Fe >100 µg/L. Water-quality data were compiled from three sources, as described...
