Extended time-series sensor data were collected between 2012 and 2016 in surface water of a tidal salt-marsh creek on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The objective of this field study was to measure water chemical characteristics and flows, as part of a study to quantify lateral fluxes of dissolved carbon species between the salt marsh and estuary. Data consist of in-situ measurements including: salinity, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, redox potential, fluorescent dissolved organic matter, turbidity and chlorophyll. Surface water flow, water level and water elevation data were also measured. The data provided in this release represent a compiled data set consisting of multiple sensor deployments between 2012 and 2016.

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release provides vertical water-quality profiles collected at Great Salt Lake, Utah monitoring sites during 1995–2000 and 2011–2022. Data were collected using an In-Situ Multi-Parameter TROLL 9500, In-Situ AquaTROLL 500, In-Situ AquaTROLL 600, or YSI EXO2 Multiparameter Sonde. Recorded parameters include water temperature, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, pH, and reduction potential. Historic data, 1995–2000, includes hydrometer and refractometer readings.

An upward-looking acoustic Doppler velocity meter (ADVM; Sontek XR, 1.5 MHz) was deployed in McAllister Creek at site MC2 (N 47° 05’ 43”/W 122° 43’ 38”) and continuously recorded water velocity, temperature and water level at 5-minute intervals from September 26, 2016 to October 14, 2016 (18 days), and at 15-minute intervals from December 2, 2016 to May 25, 2017 (174 days) except for the period of March 6 – 11, 2017 when the sensor was removed for maintenance and battery replacement. Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data along four flight lines were collected in Everglades National Park, Florida as part of a larger survey. Data were collected during October 2001. These lines, totaling 95.2 line-kilometers, repeated the path of four lines from earlier AEM survey collected in December 1994 (released under USGS Open-File Report 02-101 downloadable at https://pubs.er.usgs.gov/publication/ofr02101). There are both natural (eg volcanic activity) and anthropogenic sources of As (eg lead arsenate and copper arsenate were commonly used pesticides in the 1900’s). Regional transport of water and dissolved constituents through heavily regulated river systems is influenced by the presence of reservoirs. Analysis of seasonal patterns in solute fluxes for salinity and nutrients indicates that in-reservoir processes within large storage reservoirs in the Rio Grande and Colorado basins (southwestern USA) are superimposed over the underlying watershed processes that predominate in relatively unregulated stream reaches. Increasing the proportion of power derived from renewable energy sources is becoming an increasingly important part of many countries's strategies to achieve reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. However, renewable energy investments can often have external costs and benefits, which need to be taken into account if socially optimal investments are to be made. The data were collected to estimate the extent of saltwater intrusion in support of the Long Island Groundwater Sustainability Project in cooperation with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
