We determined acute and chronic toxicity of sodium chloride (NaCl) and sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) to up to 7 freshwater species of different taxa in a hardness water of 40 mg/L as CaCO3 and evaluated the effect of 4 hardness waters (15, 30, 60, and 120 mg/L as CaCO3) on acute toxicity of NaCl and Na2SO4 to 3 sensitive species tested in the acute exposures. This data release reports results from acute and chronic exposures with Ceriodaphnia dubia (cerios), Chironomus dilutus (midge), Hyalella azteca (amphipod), Hyla versicolor (gray treefrog), Lampsilis abrupta (pink mucket), Lampsilis siliquoidea (fatmucket), and Pimephales promelas (fathead minnow. Date include survival, size, and other endpoints and associated water...

Streambed sediment samples were collected in October 2016 from streams tributary to Wisconsin’s western Lake Michigan shoreline. Streams included two Areas of Concern (AOCs), two non-AOC comparisons, and two additional non-AOC study areas. Within the Milwaukee Estuary AOC, samples were collected from the Milwaukee River (three subsites), the Menomonee River (two subsites), the Kinnickinnic River (2 subsites), and the Milwaukee Harbor (one subsite). The Milwaukee, Menomonee, and Kinnickinnic Rivers converge in the Milwaukee Harbor and then discharge to Lake Michigan. Within the Sheboygan River AOC, samples were collected at three subsites. Samples were also collected at two subsites in the Manitowoc River and two...

This dataset provides individual measurements of toxicity and water quality data used to calculate means reported in the associated publication. The objectives of the present study were to (1) refine test conditions for improving mussel survival and growth in a long-term feeding study, (2) evaluate chronic toxicity of NaCl and KCl to fatmucket under traditional test conditions outlined in ASTM (ASTM 2017) and the refined test conditions, and (3) assess the influences of test durations, starting ages of organisms, and the presence of sand substrate on the sensitivity of juvenile fatmucket to NaCl in chronic exposures under refined test conditions. Multiple tests were conducted to determine the chronic toxicity of...
