Outcrop along the highway to Yakima Park shows a stratigraphic sequence of Evans Creek till on top of a deposit of angular rock fragments that represents an old talus. A man stands at an outcrop of pumice which contains charcoal more than 38,000 years old. The pumice overlies Hayden Creek till in outcrops to the right of, and downslope from, the road. Circa 1964.
