Album caption: Thermal infrared images of Mount St. Helens summit area obtained by U.S. Army at approximately 2300 on March 30, 1980. Thermal feature E is a topographic prominence and may result from solar heating. There are large-scale distortions in these images. B. View of upper north flank showing heating within major fractures near The Boot (fracture D and fracture through area A). In this image, observations near The Boot were approximately perpendicular to the local surface. Skamania County, Washington. March 30, 1980.
