Note: there may be some overlap between these items and the items in Collection of Rock Core Analyses from Michigan, a more comprehensive collection from 2009. Collection includes digital analytical results (primarily porosity and permeability) from rock core from Michigan oil, gas and mineral wells collected by the Michigan Geological Survey and archived at the Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education, Department of Geosciences, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo Michigan. Core analyses representative of 2,128 Michigan wells entered into a digital database from hard copy records.

Purpose

Preservation and access to valuable and unique subsurface geological data about rock properties, such as porosity and permeability, that essential for use by the public, geoscience students, scientific researchers, and industry and governmental agencies to acquire data toward natural resource identification, management, protection and development.
