Maps produced by University of Connecticut students as an academic requirement of the summer geology field intensive during 1973-1980. This informal collection includes detailed geologic maps of the
Bolton Notch and Burgundy Hills quarry areas. Student authors received high marks for these map products. University of Connecticut Professors Anthony Philpotts, Norm Grey, and Randolph Steinen
conducted the Connecticut field school; study topics included surveying, field mapping techniques, structural interpretation, geologic correlation, measuring stratigraphic sections, and underground mine mapping.
Maps include:
Bolton Notch (Pegmitite Ridge; mapped by M. Thomas; scale 1"=40'; May 1980),
Willington (L. Becker Property; mapped by C. Doyle; scale 1:600; Summer, 1979),
Burgundy Hill Quarries
(Map 1: scale 1"=60'; mapped by R. Hathaway, A. Merrick, D. Moroz, K. Brown; May 1973)
(Map 2: scale= 1"=100'; mapped by R. Burgess, E.C. Bartholomew, J. Adamik; May 1975)
(Map 3: scale 1"=100'; mapped by F.F. Hawkins, D.Kremser, K. Bohacs, P. Fontana; May 1975.)
(Map 4: scale 1"=100'; mapped by R. Nilson, J. Minard, R. Cruanes, A. Severini, J. Llopis; June 2,1975)
