Summary

Average Precipitation: Dataset covering the Gulf of Mexico coast, clipped from the origional datset of the conterminous U.S., for the year 1985-2011. Contains spatially gridded mean monthly precipitation at 4km grid cell resolution. Distribution of the point measurements to the spatial grid was accomplished using the PRISM model, developed and applied by Dr. Christopher Daly of the PRISM Climate Group at Oregon State University. This dataset is available free-of-charge on the PRISM website. Data clip was obtained through climatewizard.org Standard and Projected Precipitation: Climate projection data were downloaded from the Climatewizard application for the coastal region for the Gulf of Mexico. Climate projection data represent the [...]

Purpose

Average Precipitation 1985-2011: Display and/or analysis requiring spatially distributed mean precipitation for 1980-2011. Average Standard Precipitation Index: The archive was developed to provide planning analysts access to climate projections "downscaled" to a finer spatial resolution. Such access permits development of decision-support information and associated regional and local adaptive strategies under potential climate change. Several types of analyses are supported by this archive, including:• regionally distributed assessments of projection frequenc, location-specific assessments of projection frequenc, climate change impacts assessments for social and natural systems, • risk-based exploration of planning and policy responses. Average Projected Precipitation 2000-2050: The archive was developed to provide planning analysts access to climate projections "downscaled" to a finer spatial resolution. Such access permits development of decision-support information and associated regional and local adaptive strategies under potential climate change. Several types of analyses are supported by this archive, including: • regionally distributed assessments of projection frequency,• location-specific assessments of projection frequency, climate change impacts assessments for social and natural systems, • risk-based exploration of planning and policy responses.
