Summary

This dataset depicts riparian vegetation in the valley bottoms at 10-meter resolution for the Green River Basin Landscape Conservation Design (GRB LCD) project area covering portions of Utah, Wyoming and Colorado. Values are continuous and represent the portion of each 10-meter pixel comprised by woody riparian vegetation.

Purpose

The riparian vegetation data layer was developed to fulfill a key data need identified by stakeholders of the Green River Basin LCD. Despite their ecological importance and relevance to both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, riparian systems in the region formerly lacked reliable spatial data needed to assess conservation opportunities. The dataset provides an accurate depiction of riparian areas containing woody vegetation within the Green River Basin. They are provided at high spatial resolution and with continuous coverage across the GRB LCD domain. These data are central to several assessments being conducted as part of the GRB LCD. For example, these data have supported freshwater integrity analysis, identification of riparian areas of conservation significance, as well as vulnerability assessment.
