Purpose

The study provides age data to test ore-deposit models for relations between stockwork Cu-Mo and Ag-Zn-Cu lodes at Butte, Montana, by undertaking a comprehensive district-wide, SHRIMP U-Pb study of dike emplacement ages combined with 40Ar/39Ar study of host rock cooling and reheating as well as 40Ar/39Ar study of muscovite in alteration adjacent to lodes.
