Purpose

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is conducting a flood risk study on Kedron Brook in Woodstock, Vermont. In order to complete this study, the USACE required high precision survey data of channel bathymetry and hydraulic structures in this stream reach. While some of these survey data existed from previous work in the stream reach, the data were incomplete. At the time of this study (2019), the USACE did not have the available survey capacity to complete this survey. Supporting other federal agencies with earth science work is a primary directive of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and as such the USGS entered into a cooperative agreement to assist the USACE in the collection of survey data required for timely completion of their flood study.
