Summary

The Savannah Harbor Expansion Project (SHEP) began in January 2015 with the purpose of deepening the Savannah Harbor federal shipping channel to allow access to larger shipping vessels (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 2018a). There are various features and mitigation efforts to the SHEP, one of which is the installation of a dissolved-oxygen (DO) injection system at two locations along the Savannah River to maintain pre-SHEP DO levels in the harbor (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 2018b). Purpose

These datasets were created from six monitoring trips that occurred during oxygen injection into the river system through Speece cones as part of the larger Savannah Harbor Expansion Project (SHEP) in Savannah, Georgia. Four upstream Savannah River monitoring trips near the Georgia Power Plant McIntosh in Effingham County, Georgia occurred on 7/23/2020, 8/12/2020, 8/26/2020, and 9/10/2020. Two downstream Savannah River trips near the Hutchinson Island site occurred on 8/13/2020 and 8/27/2020. These data provide insight on the processes occurring in the river and the spatial distribution of various water-quality parameters.
