Upper Mississippi River System

Summary

The Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS) refers to the navigatable portions of the Mississippi River upstream from its confluence with the Ohio River near Cairo, IL. The Rivers which comprise the UMRS are; Mississippi River upstream from its confluence with the Ohio River to Minneapolis, MN; llinois River from its confluence with the Mississippi River upstream to Lake Michigan; and the commercially navigable portions of the St. Croix River (Minnesota/Wisconsin), Black River (Wisconsin), and Kaskaskia River (Illinois).
