Summary

The U.S. Geological Survey collected groundwater samples from 537 domestic wells for pharmaceutical compounds between 2014 and 2021 from 9 different study units. These wells were sampled as part of the California State Water Resources Control Board Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment (GAMA) Program Priority Basin Project’s assessment of the quality of groundwater resources used for domestic drinking water supply. The 9 study units are in parts of the San Joaquin Valley, Sacramento Valley, Sierra Nevada Foothills, and the Southern California Desert basins where domestic wells are extensively used for drinking water supply. The well selection for the study units were selected by using a grid-based approach to ensure a representative [...]

Purpose

This data release presents and documents the application of the Quality-control and assurance (QA/QC) evaluation for the pharmaceutical data (NWQL’s laboratory schedule 2440) collected for the Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment Program Priority Basin Project (GAMA-PBP) Domestic well study between 2014 and 2021. The QA/QC samples for pharmaceutical are regularly collected to meet the project’s data quality objectives. The data release includes 6 data tables: 1. The National Water Quality Laboratory schedule that contains the list of pharmaceutical compounds and MDLs/LRLs used to censor data values; 2. The censored data; 3. The final approved data; 4. The field & source solution blank data; 5. The replicate data; 6. The site data with well depth information.
