Purpose

This guide applies to data created by or for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Alaska Region. The information presented is intended for individuals involved with project data management. This will help to guide project-level data management activities and provide a clearer understanding of expectations and responsibilities for individuals responsible for aspects of data management. A DMP should be created in consultation with a programmatic data manager during the initial project planning stage and updated as the project makes progress to completion. Some programs in the Alaska Region have specific DMP templates, while this document includes a template to apply if no program-specific template exists.
