Summary

From the 2015 water year, the U.S. Geological Survey has collected data to develop a surrogate model for estimating real-time fine sediment particles concentration and loads at Upper Truckee River at South Lake Tahoe, CA (USGS site number: 10336610). Fine sediment particles represent a size range from 0.5-16.0 microns in suspended sediment and are the leading contributor of clarity reduction in Lake Tahoe. Model archive summaries document fine sediment particle surrogate models for the real-time calculation of fine sediment particles concentration at the Upper Truckee River at South Lake Tahoe, California. The methods used to produce the surrogate models follow U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) protocols as referenced in techniques and [...]

Purpose

This dataset was created as part of a U.S. Geological Survey study, done in cooperation with Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA), to examine tributary fine sediment particle loads flowing into Lake Tahoe.
