Summary
This dataset contains cross-sectionally averaged flow metrics from measurements made with acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCP) on the Missouri River near Wolf Point, MT during 2018 and 2019. Each data point represents a single-pass measurement with a boat-mounted ADCP driven from bank-to-bank along lateral transects spaced ~15 meters apart along a 33 kilometer reach. The measurements were collected as part of a bathymetric survey in which two USGS survey boats were each mounted with an ADCP and single beam echosounder that were deployed simultaneously. Cross-sectionally averaged flow metrics such as velocity, depth, and temperature along with the total measured discharge and starting coordinate of the measurement were extracted [...]
Cross-sectionally averaged flow metrics such as velocity, depth, and temperature along with the total measured discharge and starting coordinate of the measurement were extracted from the raw measurement files. Due to bathymetric measurements being the primary aim of data collection efforts, the vast majority of transects were measured by only one bank-to-bank measurement as opposed to four measurements which are normally collected and averaged together to produce high-quality discharge and velocity measurements.

Purpose
This dataset was primarily compiled to provide data points to be used in validating the results of a one-dimensional HEC-RAS hydrodynamic model developed for the Missouri River encompassing the spatial extent of data collection.
