Summary

This data is from a survey of participants in four workshops hosted by USGS researchers in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in communities along the Gulf Coast in 2017. The workshops were part of the Landscape conservation design project, funded separately by the USGS. The current project had no role in identifying or selected coastal managers with whom to speak; that was the responsibility of the Landscape conservation design project and occurred before the involvement of the current project team. These data are particular to the interactions between the Landscape conservation design project team and the particular coastal managers who engaged with their project. The workshops were held in: Milton, FL; Punta Gorda, [...]

Purpose

This data was collected to provide feedback to USGS and TNC researchers about the effectiveness of their workshops and data in informing resource management decisions in four Gulf Coast communities. This data relates specifically to those workshops and the project the survey was meant to inform - it should not be considered generalizable. It is also unlikely to be replicable because it pertains to a specific set of workshops. It would not be appropriate to use this data to inform unrelated work in the region. Because these data are not generalizable, their appropriate use is limited to helping to inform readers about some coastal management priorities, concerns about sea level rise, and climate data format preferences. These data do are not a representative sample of all coastal resource managers along the Gulf Coast; they only capture the interview participants' experiences, perceptions, and opinions at the time they were collected.
