Summary

This data release contains a digital compilation of geologic data from the Scottsbluff 1° x 2° quadrangle of western Nebraska and northeastern Colorado, a region predominantly characterized by Quaternary and Tertiary sedimentary and extrusive igneous rocks. This geodatabase, digitized from published resources, includes the position of volcanic ash-bed localities, structural data of inclined beds, orientation of geologic contacts and structural contours of specified stratigraphic horizons, and geographic extent of mapped geologic outcrops. Purpose

This digital geospatial dataset was created as part of U.S. Geological Survey efforts to inventory, catalog, and release structural and geologic data in geospatial form as part of a broad directive to develop 2D and 3D geologic information at detailed, national, and continental scales. This data, derived from previous U.S. Geological Survey reports and applicable publications, provide a fundamental starting point. The intended uses of this dataset include, but are not limited to, natural resource modeling, geologic mapping, and data visualization.
