Purpose

Precipitation minus potential evapotranspiration describes the relationship between the atmosphere and the earth's surface. This effort was undertaken to estimate the 30 year (1990 - 2019) annual average difference between precipitation potential evapotranspiration (mm) from ClimGrid data. This component can be used to evaluate critical aspects of water budget issues such as potential impacts of climate variability on water supply for human and aquatic ecosystem needs.
