Summary

These data are for a geochronologic study of emplacement ages for plutons of the Cretaceous Idaho batholith and detrital zircon ages for metasedimentary rocks, west-central Idaho. Zircon from six samples of discrete plutons across a regional transect were dated by sensitive high resolution ion microprobe (SHRIMP). SHRIMP U-Pb ages of igneous rocks connect the igneous activity to structural history, crustal depths, and origins of epigenetic gold-silver-antimony-tungsten±mercury mineral deposits. Purpose

One aspect of this comprehensive regional study provides age data for discrete plutons of Cretaceous Idaho batholith of west-central Idaho. These data are useful for many subsequent studies, including regional geophysics, tectonics, plutonic history, and a variety of epigenetic mineral deposit types. A second aspect of the regional study provides maximum age and sedimentary provenance data that add to understanding of the pre-Cretaceous country rocks.
