Summary

This project developed a series of tools, GIS maps, and plots to visualize the unique and complex climate on the islands of Hawai’i. This report descibes those resources and where they are located. These outputs help visualize the long-term trends in the distribution of extreme precipitation across the island chain, as well as changes in the occurrences of very hot days and very cold nights. Overall, the number of hot days has increased across the state while the number of cold nights have declined. The existence of the “Climate at a Glance” web tool, available through NCEI, supports 8 long-term stations in Hawai’i that showcases the temperature and precipitation trends since 1900.
