The WBPHS_AK bird observation data are archived as two separate datasets: 1) the raw data as originally transcribed by survey observers; and 2) the data as edited via a quality-control (QC) process. Among other things, the QC process removed records of certain non-waterfowl species, and it changed some species codes to meet the MBM-Alaska Waterfowl Program’s standardized format for transect waterfowl surveys. The QC dataset is that which MBM-Alaska uses for analyses and is considered the most appropriate for sharing with other users.
This collection of files comprises the raw transcribed WBPHS_AK bird-observation data. There is one file for each year and observer: WBPHS_YYYY_RawObs_OOO.csv, where YYYY=Year and OOO=Observer initials.
