Summary

USGS Geochron is a database of geochronological and thermochronological dates and data. The USGS Geochron: Data Compilation Templates data release hosts Microsoft Excel-based data compilation templates for the USGS Geochron database. Geochronological and thermochronological methods currently archived in the USGS Geochron database include radiocarbon, cosmogenic (10Be, 26Al, 3He), fission track, (U-Th)/He, U-series, U-Th-Pb, 40Ar/39Ar, K-Ar, Lu-Hf, Rb-Sr, Sm-Nd, and Re-Os dating methods. Purpose

The primary purpose of the USGS Geochron: Data Compilation Templates are to provide up-to-date data compilation templates for geochronological data intended to be uploaded to the USGS Geochron Database for the use by key stakeholders, scientists, and the public. The USGS Geochron Database is supported by the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program’s National Geologic Map Database project and the USGS Geochron project. The USGS Geochron Database will be managed and served in accordance with the National Geologic Mapping Act of 1992 and its Reauthorizations. Data compiled and submitted using these templates will be quality checked by the USGS Geochron Database team before being uploaded to the database. The database is published as a data release and is updated semi-annually. To contact the USGS Geochron Database team please email geochron@usgs.gov
