Summary
The 2011 Moment Magnitude 5.8 Mineral, Virginia earthquake was felt by tens of millions of people and caused significant damage in the eastern United States. As part of efforts to better understand the faults, mechanisms and geology associated with the earthquake, the U.S. Geological Survey commissioned airborne geophysical surveys over the epicentral area.
