Hosted By: GNLCC and NWCC Sage-Grouse Research Collaborative
Summary: The webinar will feature two presentations from the two active research projects being overseen by the National Wind Coordinating Collaborative Sage-Grouse Research Collaborative.
Presentation 1: “Short-Term Impacts to Greater Sage-Grouse from Wind Energy Development”
Presenters: Chad W. LeBeau (Department of Ecosystem Science and Management, University of Wyoming & WEST, Inc.); Jeffrey L. Beck (Department of Ecosystem Science and Management, University of Wyoming); Gregory D. Johnson (WEST, Inc.); Matt J. Holloran (Wyoming Wildlife Consultants, LLC).
Presentation 2: “Ecology of Male Greater Sage-Grouse Before Wind Energy Development in South-Central Wyoming”
Presenters: Joshua J. Millspaugh (Department of Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences, University of Missouri); Mark A. Rumble (U.S. Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station, Forest and Grassland Research Laboratory); Aleshia Fremgen, Christopher Hansen (Department of Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences, University of Missouri); R. Scott Gamo (Wyoming Game and Fish Department); Jon Kehmeier, Nate Wojcik (SWCA Environmental Consultants)
The Sage-Grouse Research Collaborative (SGC) was formed in 2010 to coordinate studies examining the potential impacts of wind energy development on sage-grouse across their range with the goal of informing wind development and sage-grouse management strategies.
