Bussell, A.M., Seanor, R.C., and Asquith, W.H., 2023, Quality Assurance of Water-Level Records from Wells in the Chicot aquifer system in southwestern Louisiana from the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources' Strategic Online Natural Resources Information System (SONRIS): U.S. Geological Survey data release, https://doi.org/10.5066/P9U1I5JY.

Summary

This data set consists of the remaining 6,701 water-level records formatted in the "infoGW" object format that met specific criteria for the visGWDB groundwater-level informatics software framework. This criteria ensures that the water-level records were representative of true groundwater conditions in the Chicot aquifer system and associated aquifer units in southwestern Louisiana.

Purpose

The purpose of these datasets is to apply a critical set of thresholds and statistical analysis to water-level records from the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources’ (LaDNR) Strategic Online Natural Resource Information System (SONRIS) for use in groundwater studies of the Chicot aquifer system. The thresholds and statistical analysis help to ensure the subset of water-level records extracted from the SONRIS database are a best representation of groundwater conditions in the aquifer.
