Mangrove Swamp – Extent Trends (FLCP Indicator)

Summary

This dataset is intended to assess trends and percent change per year (PCPY) in mangrove swamp acreage with available sampling data. Assessments (condition) was classified depending on the following follow thresholds for PCPY: <= -1.0% - “Decreasing” > -1.0 & < 0.0% - “Stable (-)” = 0.0% - “Stable (No Change)” > 0.0 & < 1.0% - “Stable (+)” >= 1.0% - “Increasing” A +/- 0.5% margin of error was applied to the percent changes in order to capture any potential habitat classification mapping errors.

Purpose

This dataset is part of the Florida Landscape Conservation project. The project seeks to better understand the trends of indicators within prioritized conservation assets (or habitats). The trends and analysis carried by the project will be used to aid in informing management and conservation actions at, both, the broader and detailed spatial scales. Acknowledgement of the FWC-FWRI (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission-Fish and Wildlife Research Institute) as the data source would be appreciated in any products developed from these data, and such acknowledgment as is standard for citation and legal practices for data source is expected by users of this data.
